POCKET-HOLE SCREWS
C
Versatile fasteners for hardwoods or softwoods, cabinetry or
construction!
C
Pocket hole joinery is a popular method for building everything from fine furniture and kitchen
cabinets to window frames and deck railings, but you’ve got to use the right screws for the best
results! All of our pocket-hole screws share several important features. First, a self-tapping
“auger” point prevents the screw from forcing the rail and stile apart as it advances from
part to part (standard screw points can raise a chip between the parts, resulting in a gaping,
unprofessional joint). Second, the unthreaded portion of the screw shank is properly designed
to help prevent crossthreading. Third, the screw heads are large enough to prevent wood fiber
crushing, and they’re flat underneath to prevent splitting. Finally, our screws are extremely
strong to avoid breakage during assembly. For traditional cabinetry using 3/4” to 1-1/4” material,
choose our standard #6 fine-thread screws for hardwoods and #6 coarse-thread screws for
softwoods. Our beefier #8 Super-Eight™ coarse-thread screws can be used in both materials as
well as MDF and particle board. When building with 2x construction lumber or pressure-treated
materials, use our exclusive PocketMax® screws, which are extra long, have an oversized head
to minimize crushing in softwoods, and an extended unthreaded shank necessary to avoid
crossthreading Use a clutch-equipped drill to install these fasteners! Imported.

Pocket-hole joinery is popular because it
is a fast, strong, easily adaptable, precise
method of assembly. Joints are as strong as
mortise-and-tenon joints and can be made
in a fraction of the time. Award-winning
Kreg Jigs® use a 3/8” counterbore bit with an
11/64” pilot to drill a 15º angle into the first
piece. With the joint tightly clamped, a special
self-drilling pocket-hole screw is placed in the
pocket and driven tight to complete the joint.
Pocket-hole screws feature an auger point
to prevent raising a chip between the two
parts during assembly, ensuring a tight joint.
A large pan-head with a #2 Square recess and
extended unthreaded shank enable this screw
to draw the two members of the joint tight.

Pocket-Hole Joinery: What You Need to Know!
Storage
Blue-Kote™ pocket hole screws feature a three layer, high grade, anti-corrosion coating.
The first layer is a zinc layer to protect the hardened steel inner screw from corrosive
environments. The second layer inactivates the zinc and creates adhesion between the base
coat and the Blue-Kote layer. The Blue-Kote layer is a baked ceramic, which is chemically inert
so rust can’t form on the surface. Enough of all that chemical talk; the gist is that Blue-Kote
screws are 400% more weather-resistant than the “old” Kreg® Sun-Seal screws and they have
a Square Drive recess for positive bit engagement. Imported.
Safety
Now you can build fences, gates, lawn furniture, deck railings and even decks using pocket
hole technology without worrying whether the fasteners are up to the task. These stainless
steel pocket-hole screws are specifically designed for exterior applications. They have beefy
#10 shanks for strength, deep threads for superior holding power and auger points for easy
installation. Best of all, that beefy shank diameter provides enough strength to easily join
two pieces of Ipe decking, but still works with the standard 9/64”-dia. pilot hole provided
by a Kreg® pocket-hole drill bit. Since stainless steel is softer than unhardened steel, the
extra shank diameter compared to the normal #6 or #7 screw assures that the screw is strong
enough to work in tropical hardwoods or pressure-treated lumber. Use a clutch-equipped drill
to install these fasteners! Imported.
