Do you need to guard pigmented finishes against bleed through from
stain, dye or wood tannins?
General Finishes has produced an effective stain blocker that works, not just some of the
time, but all of the time. It’s not in-expensive, but then neither is your time to keep re-doing
what previously didn’t work the last time. It can be used on existing finish, raw wood or MDF
as a base coat for Milk Paints, Chalk Paint and pigmented polys. DO NOT MIX with any paint,
stain or topcoat as this will cause the product to fail. Rinse all brushes (synthetic blend brush
or short nap roller) with clean water. Prep surface by cleaning and sanding with 220 grit
paper. It can be sprayed-on without thinning using HVLP (1.1mm – 1.5mm) or Air Compressor
(.040) with the appropriate sized tip and medium size air caps. Sand between coats (approx.
1-2 hour dry time) and apply second coat on raw wood in 2-3 hours, existing finished surfaces
in 3-5 hours. Drying times can vary depending on the temperature and humidity. Coverage is
approx. 600 ft./gallon. Made in USA.

Glaze Effects are translucent colors used to create decorative finishes and are ideal for
distressing, marble, shabby chic, color washing and rag-rolling effects. Use over milk paint
for special effects. Glaze Effects may be intermixed to create custom colors or layered for a
deeper, richer look. Test on hidden area to determine the desired color and effect. This glaze
is specially formulated to allow you more working time than conventional glazes. The semigel consistency minimizes running and dripping yet allows you to apply and wipe with ease.
It can be applied with a brush, roller or sprayer. It can be topcoated with General Finishes
High- Performance Top Coat to provide additional protection from normal wear. Covers 150
sq. ft./qt.

Everybody knows buying new cabinets can be very expensive. So when you want to look
like you have new cabinets but all you really want to spend is “sweat equity”, spruce up your
cabinets with Gel Stain. Gel Stains are formulated with a combination of pigments, oils, and
urethanes to produce a durable and beautiful “hand-rubbed” finish. Gel Stains are heavybodied (thick and less likely to run and drip all over the place). Do not penetrate as deeply
into the wood as liquid oil base stains do. Apply with light even coats, usually takes 2-3
coats, then cover with a top coat. Let the project dry thoroughly between coats. Go from oldfashioned to fabulously fashionable in no time! Available in all the popular colors, go light or
go dark – you choose. Cannot be shipped by air or through the postal system.
