Exterior 450 Varnish
A
Beautify and protect all at the same time
This environmentally friendly varnish has built in mildewcide to slow the growth of
mold,mildew and fungus. It can withstand the expansion and contraction of weather changes
that cause cracking and peeling. UV absorbers minimize fading from continual exposure to
sunlight, rain and wind. Available in a satin, semi-gloss and gloss finish, it flows on with
a brush or via an HVLP sprayer and dries to a clear finish in 1 – 2 hours, depending on
temperature and humidity. Do not apply in temperatures below 60ºF. For outdoor use, make
sure that the stain underneath is also rated for outdoor exposure. It can be used over most
water- and solvent-based stains. Test a hidden area for compatibility to be sure. Sand lightly
with 320 grit paper or higher between coats. Cleans up with soap and water and can be
tinted with exterior stain.

For those woodworkers who really want to showcase their work, these water-based
pigmented stains are just the ticket. They can be used as stand alone colors or can be mixed
with General Finishes Dye Stains for custom colors. Color will vary depending on the type
of wood and dwell time before wiping. They dry in 1 – 2 hours at 70% humidity, have low
odor and clean up with soap and water. Covers 150 sq. ft./qt. Do not buff or sand between
stain coats. Top with a High-Performance Top Coat. The color charts are not an exact
representation; use for reference only.
