Showcase your work with superior dye stains
Dye stains penetrate deep into the wood to enhance the wood grain and produce vibrant
colors. Dye stains come ready to use after stirring and are available in 12 colors in pints and
gallons. These dye stains can be used by themselves, mixed with General Finishes Wood
Stains to create custom colors or as a toner when mixed with water-based topcoats and are
easy to clean up with soap and water. They can be applied with a brush or sprayer. Water
based (High-Performance Top Coat), shellac, lacquer and solvent-based topcoats can be used
on top of dye stains. Drying time is 2 – 4 hours at 70% humidity. Coverage is 75 sq. ft./pt.

If you have a tabletop that needs to stand up to the rigors of young children or a bartop
that’s going to be used by numerous patrons, you’ll want to use the High-Performance Top
Coat. A unique hybrid of urethane and acrylic, the High- Performance Top Coat provides a
hard and durable surface that can withstand scuffing, sliding and spillage. It is stabilized
with UV absorbers to maximize its performance. It is a fast drying, low odor, non-flammable
alternative to conventional lacquers. It can be brushed or sprayed. Sanding between coats
with 320-grit paper is suggested. Three to five coats provide best protection. Allow 1 – 2
hours between coats.

For outdoor furniture and decks, try Outdoor Oil, an exterior-grade penetrating finish. It has
both UV stabilizers as well as mildew retardants to keep your wood looking great longer. In
fact, it has twice the oil of competing brands. It can be used by itself or mixed with oil-based
stains. It can be used on pressure-treated lumber. Available in clear. Covers 400 – 600 sq. ft./
gal.
