It takes a special screw to make us sit up and take notice! After all, McFeely’s(R) has been
in this business for more than 30 years. Spax (R) screws have a unique and patented
technology, precision German engineering and the usefulness in a wider range of materials
from softwoods, to plastics, to thin sheet metal. They definitely grabbed our attention.
At McFeely’s, we like to call the SPAX screw the “fastener of the future.” What makes this
screw so innovative is its combination of a fully-threaded shank (for most versions) with
a patented serration pattern, a patented head style called the MULTIhead™ (DHX, FYX
and #10 and smaller FZX), and a patented point called the 4CUT™ (which eliminates predrilling and splitting because of its square end that divides wood fibers on DHX, FYX, CBX,
PZX and #10 and smaller FZX). SPAX screws are available with a flat, trim or pan head and
clear or yellow zinc plating or stainless steel. Imported.

A Cautionary Note on Usage
The combination of the 4CUT (tm) point and serrated thread is effective enough to
eliminate pre-drilling, unless you’re driving in masonry or sheet metal thicker than
24 ga. The fully threaded versions of the SPAX (R) screw do not allow for as much
adjustment. as you may be accustomed to having. This is because the thread forms
mechanical attachment in both horizontal and vertical planes. While this is great
for fastening items overhead, you may want to measure twice before using these
screws. They’re advanced fasteners for advanced woodworkers. There are few screws,
if any that provide as sound a joint as these!

SPAX T-Star plus zinc trim head MDF/Fiberboard screws are specifically designed
to prevent splitting in medium density fiberboard (MDF) and hardwoods without
pre-drilling. Our T-Star trim head specialty screws are also effective for attaching
lightweight, high-density polyurethane trim.
